While the internet has plenty of useful information on electrics, it is tough to find focused, non-biased detail on a range of multimeters in one place. I’ve attempted to document it here.
I am a qualified plant maintenance engineer and electrician first and foremost (copywriter distant second), with several years of experience in industry-based maintenance and installation. I am thus quite familiar with multimeters.
Anyway, enough about me, the main focus here is on helping you pick the right one. There are literally hundreds of testmeters on the market across dozens of brands that are categorized into four different classes. Hopefully I can steer you in the right direction through objective reviews.
As there is so much choice, where possible, comparisons have been made with a close candidate(s). This is not necessarily to help save money, more to help you pick the right tester.
These guides are intended to be as long, or short, as is necessary to cover the important points, and are unbiased. On that note, if they come across as being biased, it is wholly unintentional and likely a case of getting carried away by the amazing features of a quality device.
Along with reviews on multimeters and other select electrical test equipment, I will also endeavor to cover various how-to articles and feature helpful advice on the topic.
