Mastech is one of the top OEM producers of measuring instruments and is well known in the world of DMMs. This forward-thinking Chinese company has been around since the 1980s and churns out an array of cheaper, feature-packed Mastech multimeters and voltage detectors for both the US and European markets.
Some examples of their popular test meters:
This is a great lower budget DMM with a large range of features. Not only does it measure volts, amps, ohms, continuity and farads, but it can also read humidity, temperature, light and even sound. Rugged, pretty accurate and cheap, it leaves many of its contemporaries behind. Read more…
A super-affordable multimeter, the MS8268 is perfect for the hobbyist and non-electrician for lower energy tasks. It handles most measurements and boasts auto-ranging and lighted input jacks, making it perfect for beginners. Read more…
The MS8264 is a basic full range meter, albeit manual ranging so may not appeal to beginners. It has most ranges, including voltage, amperage, capacitance and frequency, plus temperature. Also comes with a backlit screen and hold function. Read more…
Company Background and Facilities
The firm was founded as the Precision Mastech Enterprises Company in China in 1987. They produced analog meters and other basic electrical instruments, though today design and manufacture an array of more advanced test tools at competitive prices. The factory resides in Shenzhen, southeast China.
Here are quality production facilities and advanced auto-assembly lines, an injection molding workshop, processing centers and test facilities. This ISO 9001:2000-certified manufacturer produces items to certification, including CE and American UL.
The turnover rate is over three million instruments, from DMMs to environmental testing equipment. The Mastech brand uses hundreds of global partners based in 100+ countries around the world. They have a healthy growth rate and have offices in the City of Industry, LA.
They make around 200 different kinds of electrical test equipment products in a wide variety of fields. These range from environmental equipment, such as light meters, moisture testers and humidity temperature devices, to safety testing devices and laboratory instrumentation.
In particular, they produce dozens of DMMs that are mostly in the lower end of the budget range. These include standard, average RMS devices, to higher quality True RMS meters, pocket-sized items and current clamp meters. Prices range from around $15 to $100.
Other Test Equipment
In addition, they make circuit testers, calibrators, earth resistance testers, insulation testers, laser distance meters, digital thermometers, infrared thermometers, line splitters, voltage detectors, wire trackers, rotation indicators, and a whole host of accessories.
