A manufacturer of industrial tools under parent company Textron, this US firm also offers a range of electrical test equipment.
Though they don’t make their own multimeters, Greenlee OEM’s a series of Brymen’s test equipment. This Taiwanese producer of high quality meters is a well known and respected brand by electricians, technicians and engineers, with a proven track record.
The rebadged Greenlee digital multimeters have a green holster as opposed to Brymen’s trademark red. When buying from Amazon in the US, they are available through Greenlee only as opposed to Brymen.
Some examples of high quality test meters:
A reasonably priced compact meter and one of their cheaper models. Boasting solid specs, accuracy and input protection, it is perfect for general purpose electricians and even for DIYers looking for a dependable tool. Includes voltage detection and data logging ability. Read full review…

Prior to being acquired by industrial giant Textron in 1986, Greenlee itself had a long and proud history in the production of industrial tools. The company was founded by Robert and Ralph Greenlee in 1862 on the back of a woodworking invention in Rockford. The company went on to great success through a number of woodworking tools and machinery.
After Textron’s acquisition of Greenlee, they have themselves expended their range of products through further companies like Fairmont Hydraulics and Datacom Technologies, to include hydraulic, telecommunications and electronics equipment.
They chiefly operate in the furniture, electrical, agriculture and plant maintenance markets and their products are shipped worldwide. Textron itself is heavily into aerospace and defense and owns a number of high profile firms, such as Cessna and Bell Helicopters. Employee count is around 35,000.
Along with multimeters provided by Brymen, they manufacture and buy a huge line of hand tools (to include professional grade), together with punches, conduit benders, cable pullers, wrenches and hydraulic pumps.
